Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and summer’s lease hath all too short a date. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, and often is his gold complexion dimmed. Every fair from fair sometime declines, by chance or nature’s changing course untrimmed. But thy eternal summer shall not fade, nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’t. Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade, when in eternal lines to time thou grow’t: So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, so long lives this, and this gives life to thee. – William Shakespeare.
Life is a cycle of metamorphosis, a very wise lady once told me many moons ago that “beauty is but, a mere fading flower” – that oracle was my beloved Grandmother, Phyllis, an amazing lady with a wealth of knowledge and a heart as loving as the infinity of time.
As I embark upon the “highway” of twilight and grand awakening in this physical life, there is a plethora of frontiers, yet, to explore prior to entering into the celestial embrace of God’s love. To reach a momentous birthday that marks a half of a century, is no insignificant feat, to put it into perspective, some souls don’t even get 50 seconds on this magnificent, yet, perilous earthly plane of breathtaking splendor and unfathomable disparity.
For my time here thus far, I am immensely grateful that breath still bestows its favor on the carbon that is my being, as there is still much work to do and many souls to help on their way home to the “land of spectacular recherché beauty” – a place that is so truly exquisite that there are no words to aptly describe its kaleidoscope of hues and adore. – NJ-S
